Jodie's Birthday Fundraiser

Last year, so many of you were so generous, you helped me exceed my goal by leaps and bounds, and I hope you will be able to help again. I don't get paid to protect animals, but it's my life's work. I will never take a large or six figure salary like many do in the non-profit world, but if I could get paid enough to pay my rent, I could spend so much more time working for the animals. I’m not good at fundraising, as I’d much rather spend my time doing the actual advocacy, but I know in order to do more, I need more time and money. By the way, there are no overhead costs spent on the organizations I run - there's no office space/rent, salaries, company cars, etc. I run all three organizations out of my 1 bedroom apartment. 

Here are just a few reasons to consider a donation to CFES/CAA. 

In just the last several weeks, I have witnessed and documented Chicago's carriage horses being worked when it was 91 degrees on the 4th of July (too hot according to Chicago's law) and being overworked (some by at least 12 hours or more, which is more than double what Chicago's law allows). Of course, we've been documenting these violations for a couple years now and still, the City refuses to enforce the law. 

We already have 18 co-sponsors (and 1 sponsor) on the new ordinance to ban horse carriages, yet it was just introduced 6/12/19. We are working extremely hard to ban horse carriages this year! 

Because of our work, the Executive Director of Chicago's Puerto Rican Fest recently told me they will not have pony/camel rides or use animals in the future. 

I’ve worked in animal protection professionally for more than 20 years. When I realized it was what I wanted to do for a living, I never looked back, and I truly hope I can make a living doing this full time soon.
